Stuart Junior Tidwell, 92, passed away August 24, 2016 in Nampa, Idaho of natural causes at a local care center. A funeral service will be held in his honor on Thursday, September 1, at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Canyon Building located at 121 North Canyon Street in Nampa. A graveside service with military honors will follow at Kohlerlawn Cemetery, also in Nampa. The family would like to greet all those wanting to express condolences at a viewing, which will be held at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 North Midland Boulevard, on Wednesday, August 31, from 6-8 p.m., as well as 45 minutes prior to the service (10-10:45 a.m.) at the LDS building located on Canyon Street. Stuart was born March 31, 1924 to Stuart Randolph Tidwell and Eva Thelma (Savin) in Helper, Utah. He attended school until he graduated from Nampa High School in 1942. He then enlisted in the United States Navy. Stuart served in the Navy during World War II, from 1942-1945. He spent most of his time in the Pacific Theater, and served with distinction as a Quarter Master 3C. He was awarded The Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Medal, The American Area Campaign Medal, The World War II Victory Medal, and The Philippine Liberation Medal. Stuart also attended The College of Idaho in Caldwell and Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. On June 25, 1947, Stuart married the love of his life, Emma Jane (Spencer), in the Salt Lake City Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for Time and All Eternity. Together they had three boys: Lynn Dale Tidwell, Terry Kevin Tidwell, and Vaughn Gray Tidwell. Stuart worked hard to provide for his family, and worked 13 years for Ontario Meat Packers, where he became an accomplished butcher. Stuart left the meat packing industry and founded Stuarts Specialties, an Industrial Supply company, supplying nuts, bolts, and anything else someone might need to keep things up and running at the many factories in the Valley. As an avid hunter and fisher, Stuart had his own foundry and cast aluminum and brass. In his later years, he spent six months each year in Nehalem, Oregon where he made many friends and acquaintances. Stuart was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all of his life, and enjoyed serving in various callings. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Emma Jane, and his brothers Dale Lynwood Tidwell and Arlend J. Tidwell. He is survived by his children, Lynn (Bonnie) Tidwell of Boise, Terry Tidwell of Parma, and Vaughn Gary Tidwell of Forest Grove, Oregon; a sister, Ruth Ivadell of Idaho; and a brother, Evan Wayne of California. Also numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. On behalf of the Tidwell family, we would love to thank the staff of the Boise VA Medical Center and his final care at the Kindred Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, especially Wendy, Mindy, and Jim for their loving, tender, and professional care. Also thank you to several friends that were like brothers to Stuart: Bob Wollney, Larry Mack, and David Beck.
