Irma Isabel Haycock passed away at the age of 90 at her residence in Meridian, Idaho on June 3, 2014 from natural causes. She was the daughter of Maria and Jose Motz born September 5, 1923 in Choluteca, Honduras. She was the only daughter with three brothers: Gunther, Roberto, and Werner. Roberto is the only surviving member and presently resides in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. After her education in Honduras, she received a teaching certificate in 1941. She came to the United States in 1943 to continue her studies at UCLA and two years later married Cecil H. Mortensen and created a family with four sons who survive her: John 68, Joe 66 Chris 63, and Brad 60. Chris is an ESPN Senior NFL Reporter/Analyst. Irma is survived by four daughters-in law: Irma, Kathy, Micki, and Peggy. Her descendants include 14 grandchildren and over 20 great-grandchildren. She became a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1959 and was an active and respected member from then until her passing. In 1968, five years after her divorce, she married Hillman D. Haycock also an active member. She lived three decades in Southern California before retiring to Cedar City, Utah in 1976. Her years in Cedar City were filled with many hours of service to people in her church and community including several years as a hospital volunteer. She resided in Utah until 2001 when she moved to Albuquerque, NM. In 2006 she moved again to Meridian, Idaho. She was a devoted mother always setting a fine example for her sons with her rectitude, firmness of purpose, work ethic, and principles. She had a wonderful sense of humor that brightened those around her even in her final days. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 7 at the Haven Cove LDS Ward Chapel, 1560 N. Ten Mile Road, Meridian. A viewing will be held at the church from 9 to 9:45 a.m. prior to the services. A graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 10 at the Cedar City Cemetery. She will be laid to rest by her beloved husband, Hillman D. Haycock. Arrangements are being provided by Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa. 467-7300.
