Anna Booth

Anna (Annie) Booth of Kuna, Idaho passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2016. She was 92 years old and in good health until the very end. She was born June 18, 1923 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to John and Katie Achtziger. She was always pleased to be a first generation American, the first one of her family to be born in the USA. Her family had gone through much struggle to be able to immigrate to America and she and her family were so grateful to be Americans. Anna grew up during the depression and by watching her parents adapt from a very comfortable living to having close to nothing taught her to be a frugal, responsible, and an independent person. She was very adaptable to change and challenges in her life and was very creative and hard working in caring for a family with meager resources. She grew up in Milwaukee and attended school there through High School. She had a love of music and played the viola. One of the highlights of her life was to be chosen to play with the All City Orchestra and to go on tour with them throughout Wisconsin. She followed her parents to Weiser, Idaho where she met and married the love of her life, George (Jiggs) Booth in 1947. They settled in Weiser where they raised their family of five children. She worked on the farm from milking cows to hauling hay. She was meticulous in keeping the farm records. Anna was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints in which she held many positions. Many of those positions were secretarial. She was careful to record everything accurately just as she did with the farm records. If something needed recording it was to be done right. Her biggest joy and delight was her family. Her family was most important to her. Although she had experience at times working out of the home, her life was defined by being a wife, mother, and homemaker. When her family was around her and she saw that they loved her and each other, she said that was all she needed in life. It was better than all the riches in the world. Anna is survived by her son, Clayton, (Robbie); daughters: Marie Booth Durrant (Russ, deceased), Margaret Legarreta (Phil), and Shirley Ridgeway (Bill). She had 22 grandchildren and many, many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband George (Jiggs); daughter Barbara Booth Garland; Son-in-Law Russell Durrant and her beloved great-granddaughter Anna Rose Overholser. She was able to move on in peace, joy and love while surrounded by all of her many family.
