Phyllis Eleanor Christensen Eggleston, age 93, entered this life on Feb. 14, 1922, in Idaho Falls, Idaho and entered eternal life on October 5, 2015, in Weaverville CA. She passed peacefully in her sleep from old age, surrounded by her children. Her parents were Marion Wilbur Christensen and Eleanor Irene Miller Christensen. She had four brothers who preceded her in death: Wilbur (Wanda), Roland (Minnie) Robert (Golda), Don (Naida); and one sister still living Margaret Guidinger (Ed). She was married to her sweetheart Harry Leon Eggleston on Feb. 26, 1940. They had four children: William James (Jeanie), Jack (Sharon), Paul (Rebecca), and Paula. Mom was a homemaker and loved taking care of her husband, children and home. She lived in Idaho until World War II when she moved to Pismo Beach, CA. Later she moved her family to Redwood City, Menlo Park, San Jose and Sacramento, CA. In 1973 Mom and Dad moved to Diamond Valley, Nevada where they developed and farmed 180 acres. After Leon retired they moved to Meridian and then to Nampa where she lived for 30 years. Finally she moved to Junction City, CA where she lived with her son Jack and his wife Sharon. She loved to crochet and quilt. All of her children and grandchildren were lucky to receive baby blankets when born, quilts for college and afghans when they got married. Great-grandchildren received hand quilted blankets. She sewed all of her daughter's clothes while Paula grew up. She sewed shirts and pants for her boys when they were young. These were all made with her loving hands and sweet spirit. She has 25 surviving grandchildren and one who preceded her in death. She has 51 great-grandchildren and 3 great- great-grandchildren. She has many sweet nephews and nieces, cousins and in-laws. Mom had some very close and special friends in the wards that she lived in. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leon, of 61 years in 2001 and a grandson, Leon who passed in 2012. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 10 at the Nampa West LDS Stake Center, 1500 Smith Ave in Nampa. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 9 at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd, Nampa (467-7300) and at the church from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, prior to the services. Burial will be at Kohlerlawn Cemetery following the services.
