Hazel Marjorie Loughmiller Swaim, 94, of Nampa died June 24, 2014. She was born February 8, 1920 in Wheatland, Wyoming to Louie Tillman and Effie May Hudson Loughmiller. She was reared on her parent's farm north of Weatland. She had three older sisters and a younger brother. She graduated from Wheatland High School in 1938. She remained at home assisting her parents with the farm and helping other families in the area. Hazel met her spouse, Lloyd Swaim, at the local Church of the Nazarene. They were married March 5, 1941 in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska. They lived in the Wheatland area for several years as well as some time in Corvallis, Oregon. Bonnie was born December 30, 1941. Winnie was born August 2, 1945. A baby boy was born and died at birth. After Lloyd's military service, they moved to Nampa, Idaho where he attended NNC. They lived in various places in Wyoming, Idaho and Oregon, wherever Lloyd taught school or worked. In April 2008 they moved back to Nampa with their daughter Winnie to be closer to doctors and relatives. Hazel enjoyed being a housewife. She cooked good meals, sewed dresses for her daughters and herself, taught her daughters how to cook and can. While in New Bridge, Oregon as a pastor's wife, she entertained missionaries, evangelists and lots of teenagers. She was active in the church of the Nazarene. She avidly collected Campbell soup and education coupons for the Sun Valley Indian School. She was active in the Women's Fellowship groups: Bible studies, prayer times, and retreats to the Oregon coast. Hazel liked to travel, whether in the western states, Canada, Alaska or just for a drive in the county or to the store. She read books, helped her daughters with school work and typed college papers for Lloyd. When her daughters left for college, she started keeping a daily journal. She grew up in a family with a long heritage of belief in Jesus Christ and lived it. She loved the Lord and was an example to many people. She was a great "prayer warrior". Hazel looked forward to family reunions and celebrations. She enjoyed camping and fishing. Two summers Lloyd and Hazel worked for a guest ranch west of Dubois, Wyoming (Teton Wilderness) where they cut wood by hand and discouraged bears from the hunting camps.
