Frances Marie Roundy, formerly of Boise, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 28, 2014 at her home in Nampa, at the age of 96. She was born October 14, 1918 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah to Frank Ether and Ellen Cecilia Larsen Roberts in a pioneer home built by her grandfather, Anders Christensen. Frances married Louis Gordon Roundy, in the LDS Salt Lake City Temple, February 11, 1946. Their courtship was 38 months, mostly by correspondence letters, because Gordon was stationed in the Air Force overseas. Frances has been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life. After their marriage they called the Boise area their home and lived in the home they built on Kootenai St. in Boise. They lived in that home for 42 years, where they raised seven children, five boys and two girls. Shortly after their son Frank was born, Frances and Gordon were instrumental in the establishment of the Ada County Association of Retarded Citizens (later referred to as ARC). Frances volunteered at Boise Senior Center for more than 18 years. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers (DUP) in Ada and Canyon County for over 40 years. Frances was a dedicated homemaker, wife and mother and followed the principles of the gospel. She spent her lifetime serving her family, church and the Lord. She served a mission with her husband Gordon in 1982 - 1983 (Houston, Texas). Frances enjoyed traveling with her family to various places over the years. She visited Mexico, Calgary, New York City, Hawaii and went on a few cruises along the way. She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon, her parents, a sister Hilda and her brothers Doug and Enos Roberts; her grandson Shadrach Roundy and great-grandson Allan James (AJ) Oney. She is survived by a brother LaVon (Barney) Roberts; sisters: June Tate, Lillian Cartwright, Louise Lindsay; by seven children: Leslie, Ellen (Cleve) Wardle, Carlos (Deborah), Rex (Adell), Roger (Debra), Frank and Joyce (John) Kuiken. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 55 great-grandchildren. We would like to thank St. Luke's Hospice and Havenwood Care Giver Services for the excellent help they provided, so she could remain at home until her death.
