Alexander Merrill Washburn 1987-2018

Alexander Merrill Washburn passed away July 5, 2018. He was born October 27, 1987, to Richard Lavell and Yvette Marie Washburn in Provo, Utah. Alex grew up in Nampa, Idaho. He attended Liberty Charter School from 6th through 10th grade and graduated in 2006 from Skyview High School. He worked hard to prepare for his LDS mission to the Brazil Curitiba Mission, where he served, speaking Portuguese from 2008-2010. He was employed at the Nampa Edwards Theater for many years both before and after his mission. Soon after he returned from Brazil he attended Brigham Young University-Idaho for two years studying accounting. Alex was known for having a happy, fun spirit and was well loved by all who knew him. He was a practical jokester and was quick to say the right thing to make you laugh. He was thoughtful and caring towards others, especially to his family. Unfortunately he suffered from clinical depression for many years, which eventually overcame him and was the reason he took his own life. He spent the last several years of his life close to his family. Though his activities were limited because of his condition, he tried hard to serve his family and brought a lot of joy to their lives. Alex is survived by his parents, his two brothers Troy and Luke, his sister Tess and his sister and brother-in-law, Annie and Kjel Jones. He was preceded in death by his brother Joseph Bingham Washburn. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 14, at the Deer Flat LDS chapel, 7809 Deer Flat Road, Nampa, Idaho 83686. It will be preceded by a viewing at the same location from 9-10:30 am
