Ray Franklin Nelson II, March 27, 1981 - May 2, 2023.Ray Franklin Nelson II passed away at his home on Tuesday May 2, 2023, at the age of 42.Ray was born on March 27, 1981, in Lodi, California to Bob E. Nelson Jr and Janey L. Downs. As a child Ray loved to play sports, such as basketball, baseball, and football. He played in school programs, and with the Rio Vista little league. He and his family spent most of his nights out at the ballfield as a child. Ray also loved to ride his bike with his brother Mark, and his childhood friends around the neighborhood. He would spend his summers with his Uncles Ben and Frank Downs working on their commercial fishing boats off the coast of Oregon & Washington, this is where his love of the ocean came to be.Ray had a love for music, playing his guitars, being outdoors, fishing, hunting, shooting his bow and riding dirt bikes. Ray also loved spending time with friends and family any chance he got, especially with his nieces and nephews.Ray was an excellent mechanic and enjoyed customizing pickups. He spent most of his life as a mechanic and a tire guy. He always loved a truck with big tires. Ray was great at whatever he put his mind to and had done great things in life.Later in his life he found his love for the Lord and his love of helping people, either serving a meal at the mission or just having a simple conversation with someone. Serving others always brought him so much joy. He was extremely grateful for all those people who helped him and worked with him at the Boise Rescue Mission. He was a grateful member of Alcoholics Anonymous and the 12-step program. He had a deep understanding of our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and loved to have long deep conversions in theology.Ray is preceded in death by his mother Janey Downs, his grandmother Francis "Sue" Downs, and his uncle Patrick "Pat" Nelson. He is survived by his girlfriend Brandi Rigby Nelson, his father Bob Nelson Jr. (Lisa), his grandparents, Bob Nelson Sr. and Doretta "Dee" Nelson, His sister Carie Allred (Forrest), his brothers Mark Nelson and Garret Nelson, Stepsisters, Destiny Thompson (Jason) and Danielle Moore.Ray was also blessed with nieces, Kali Peralto, Ariyah McGlone, Ashlyn Goodrich, Brooklynn Nelson, Danika Moore and his nephews Cody and River Nelson.Ray was an extremely generous man who was dedicated to the Lord, his family, work, and his pride. Ray touched the hearts of Many throughout his short time here. Ray will greatly be missed by many.Services are still yet to be determined and will be decided at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the Boise Rescue Mission in Ray's name.
