Jared Ricker

Jared Don Ricker, born February 8, 1980, in Payson, Utah, left this mortal life unexpectedly on June 12, 2022, in Caldwell, Idaho. He is survived by his wife, Brianna Lynn (Stevens) Ricker; his four children: Jackson Don, Brice Laney, Campbell Zoe, and Collins Bree; his parents, Don and Peggy; his brothers: Bryan (Jen), Chase (Melissa), and Cameron (Zaida); his mother-in-law Penny Stevens; his siblings-in-law, Kori Stevens, Jeremy Stevens (Joy), and Tari York (Brad); 18 nieces and nephews; several uncles and aunts; many cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law Kent Stevens; and his nephew Kameron Lowe. His family will miss him deeply but is comforted to know that death is not final and that families are forever. Jared loved his childhood. He loved traveling with his family and had a special bond with his brothers that remains. He and his brothers often got into fist fights, but his brothers remember them fondly. Before graduating from Nampa High School, he proudly earned his Eagle Scout. His final Eagle Scout project was upgrading local pool facilities, which served the community around him. He was very proud that his son, Jackson, earned his Eagle Scout as well. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Columbus, Ohio, where his presence impacted many in the community. After returning from his mission, he met the love of his life, Bri, on a blind date that Bri's sister-in-law set up, and they were married on February 1, 2002. He then received his associate's degree in multi-media and worked with his current employer, Iliad Media Group, as the IT Director and supporting engineer for the radio for more than 15 years. He loved his coworkers and considered them part of his family. He was also a talented graphic designer, offering his expertise to his family and friends for wedding invitations, programs, adoption profiles, and more. Jared loved bringing people together through his love of cooking and barbequing. He loved traditions, including eating Sunday dinner with family as much as possible. He showed his love by filling your soul and your belly. He also loved the outdoors and mountains and was looking forward to hiking more trails this summer. He always dreamed of being a forest ranger. He also enjoyed watching movies and sharing "fail" videos. Friends and family knew Jared was the go-to person for "movie conversations," and they would regularly call Jared to talk about what they just watched. He had the best laugh and loved making people laugh. He served others often and enjoyed his church activities. He especially loved mentoring the young men in his church congregations and would often volunteer to be a leader on trips so that he could be with his son, Jackson, or his youngest brothers, Chase and Cameron. His ward family will miss him deeply. Above anything, he loved being with his wife, children, and family. He recently recalled a big family trip to Disney World and all of the happy memories made there. He was not a huge sports fan, but he went to every single sporting event if it meant spending time with his family. He made sure to include everyone and had a personal relationship with each member of the family. Among the many ways that he adored his kids, he specifically loved the man Jackson is becoming, Brice's artwork, Campbell's recent love of theater, and Collins' sense of humor. His care extended to his nieces and nephews, who he would roughhouse with or organize fun activities for, including renting a bounce house for an afternoon or heading to the pool. It also included his in-laws, making sure that each of them knew that he loved them. Jared loved serving people, sharing the gospel, and making connections. He often spoke of serving a mission after the kids were out of the house, and he and Bri were planning on doing so. While it is incredibly difficult to accept, we know that he was called back to serve others beyond the veil. He is doing what he loves and what he wants to do so badly, even if it was not meant to happen on Earth at this time. God knew he was special and needed him back to do important work. Jared almost always had a smile on his face. Everyone was a friend to him. He left anyone he met a better person. His memory will live on through the many lives he positively impacted. Any time we hear a dirty joke, we will remember him. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, June 20, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 11792 Linden Rd in Caldwell 83605.
