Holli Lorene Pool

Holli Lorene Pool completed her life's mission on April 2, 2021 after a fierce & courageous battle with Stage 4 Mucosal Melanoma Cancer. Holli was a faith filled daughter of God, one who fully trusted in His plan to her very core. She was a faithful wife, loving mother, a loyal sister & a true friend. She lived her life to the fullest, finding joy in the journey and even in her darkest hours managed to bring the party with her wherever she went. Holli was always so quick on the uptake bringing laughter and wit that could lighten any mood or room. She had an uncanny ability to reach into a person's heart and dig deep into their soul, have meaningful conversations, heal hearts and make friends out of strangers. Holli always put the Savior and her relationship with Him first and foremost in her life and has taught her children and those around her to do the same. Holli was born on February 22, 1979 in a small west coast fishing village called Bella Coola, British Columbia Canada to Wayne Fredriksen & Merle Mecham Fredriksen, she is the 3rd of six children. When she was a small toddler, her family moved inland, from there they continued to move 13 different times until the year she turned 12 and they settled in Cardston, Alberta, Canada. Her favorite childhood home and memories with her 5 siblings was on a hobby farm in Creston, BC where they all enjoyed hours and hours of exploring through the 20 acres of trees, antique buildings, playing with the animals and cooling off in the small creek that ran through the acreage, they played endlessly on that property and made many wonderful memories there. Holli happily shared middle child status with her sister Dawna, so close in age that when Holli was held back in the 1st Grade, the two almost like twin sister, had already been inseparable from the time they were toddlers they had the rare opportunity to also be in the same grade all the way through grade school and into their college years as roommates. This was a cherished relationship for Holli, the depth of which carried her through many hard years as a child growing up and in to all her adult years as well. Holli cared deeply for all of her siblings and was a born leader from a young age. She is a gatherer and never failed to show support to her family no matter what kind of sacrifices it took to do it. Holli was active in all the ways that mattered as a child and as a teenager. She enjoyed snowboarding, waterskiing, rollerblading, doing a job well done and serving others in church and at her places of employment. Holli graduated from Cardston High School in 1998 with a hard earned nearly 4.0 GPA and honors. After high school Holli went on to attend Ricks College. Her apartment "No. 301" was the place to be as she and her roommates all enjoyed hard laughter, late nights, spontaneous weekend trips to Canada or Utah, group dates and so many crazy moments, many instigated by her and her big, bright spirit and joyful attitude. During her second year of College, Holli worked as a Biology Lab Assistant, it was at this time that she met her future husband, Darin Pool, who realized very quickly just how special, feisty, courageous, determined, & faithful this girl really was. The night they were supposed to have gone on their first date, Holli and her roommates had left town and drove to Utah to attend General Conference for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Spontaneous and adventurous as Holli is she joined with a few of her friends and some guys and in the middle of the night got the brilliant idea to go jump off a rope swing at 20 feet in the air. Not exactly what that adventure was supposed to look like but being used to taking flying leaps off of rope swings in to water at the Lake in Montana that she used to go to with her high school friends, judgment was skewed, and her mind played tricks on her memory and she let go landing on her feet on the solid ground. The all-night adventure put her in a wheelchair with two casts on both of her feet by morning. She had shattered bones in both of her feet. Darin told her many times that if she would have just gone on that first date with him when he'd asked her, she wouldn't have broken her feet. Also, wouldn't have made quite the exciting beginning to their dating story either. Holli, the cute Canadian girl married Darin Pool, the boy from Idaho on August 11, 2000 in the Cardston, AB Temple. They started their happily ever after by returning to Ricks college as newlyweds to finish their associates degrees. They were RA's there and had many of their friends over to the ghetto little beginnings, a tiny mouse infested trailer, Holli played matchmaker more than once as she helped set many a friend up with their future spouses (not a huge feat at a school like Ricks but still earns some bragging rights). Her brother-in-law happened to be one of those lucky guys who when he wanted to join Holli and Darin for a meal one night, she told him only if you brought a date with him. Turns out, that girl became his wife. Holli & Darin finished school at ISU where Holli finished with flying colors in Dental Hygiene, managing to give herself legendary status when she gave birth to her 'first child, Kaisley Ann, in between her written board exams & the clinical portion of boards. Not an easy feat! In 2003, the happy little family of three moved to Boise, ID & began to establish their lives. They bought their first home in Nampa, Idaho soon after and finally settled in Middleton, ID in 2014. Holli's life was filled with one faith building, miraculous experience after another. Holli fought for her life on several occasions as she battled with ulcerative colitis between the birth of her first child in 2003 & her second child, Tysen in 2005. After a majorly botched surgery in Idaho, the desperate couple landed themselves at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota where the doctors were able to preserve her life. Little did they know this would be the first of several trips to the same renowned medical facility where they would go to receive life-saving care, and they did! After this horrifying experience for the couple, Holli's ability to conceive children without medical intervention was taken from her. Holli's strong faith coupled with her desire to have more children burned within her, she knew that there were children that she was supposed to have and raise. These major challenges just propelled Holli to act and from there she gave it her all and despite failed invitro procedures, was able to have one successfully take, getting their little miracle baby Malia Rae out of the deal. For the next 7 years, Holli felt strongly drawn to adoption as she'd have recurring dreams that she still had at least one more little boy who would join their family. True to the deep and abiding faith in God that drove Holli in her life's decision, family planning included, Holli and Darin adopted not just one little boy but sight unseen, flew across the country to pick up their 3 youngest boys in December of 2017. During their 20 years of marriage Holli was an unrestrained force to be reckoned with, a mover and shaker, a get things done kinda gal, she was adventurous and strong, a bright light of beauty, goodness and joy everywhere she went. Holli didn't waste any time, as if she knew her time on this earth wouldn't be as long as others, she took the chance to travel and travel the world she did! Along with her eternal companion, also an adventurer at heart! Darin earned several trips with his work team and the two of them along with some of his colleagues, travelled by cruise ship and plane to the Caribbean Islands, Mexico, Costa Rica, France & Italy and along the way, she touched the hearts of so many. Holli loved an adrenalin rush and would never say no to an adventure. She did it all: zip lines, dolphin swims and up close and personal with the manta rays, she'd be all in when it came to seeing the beauties of the world and all the different islands, they'd visit by using faster means like ATVs and scooters. Above all, Holli loved to play with (& tease) her kids, any chance she'd get she would do her best to give them good memories and take them on memorable adventures as much as possible. She loved to hike and bike and camp, a favorite tradition being their trips to Lagoon for fun and school clothes shopping. In the final chapter of Holli's beautiful mortal life, she displayed an iron will of determination and faith. Once the cancer spread to her brain and throughout her bones and muscles, she seemed to be on an extra big mission to share her light and love, she often spoke with the power of angels sharing her deep conviction that God is ALWAYS in the details. She had a "come what may and love it" personality even in the face of insurmountable difficulties and great physical pain. Holli had an indomitable spirit, she fought cancer with grace and valor, with humor and trust in the Lord she knew her Savior was carrying her every step of the way. She shared her journey with all through her you tube channel because she wanted to leave a legacy of faith and point all to the Savior Jesus Christ. She loved being able to document the many miracles and tender mercies that riddled her journey. From the timing of the various treatments, times when friends or family showed up right at the minute they were needed or being able to go on 3 big hikes totaling 21 miles over a period 5 days. She showed us all to let God prevail. She made sure to give her children a foundation for them to stand on so there would be "no empty chairs". Holli your infectious personality, kindness, love, laugh, smile & joy will be forever missed. To know you is to love you!
