Lynsey Long Mullennax

Lynsey Long Mullennax was born May 25, 1978 to James Gordon and Janet Long in Boise, Idaho. Except for a short 2 year period of time, living in Alaska, she lived in Boise. She attended Boise schools and graduated from Capitol High in 1996. After graduation, she moved to Utah to attend school earning a certification in dental assisting. Lynsey was the first girl born into the family...4 brothers before her...so you can only imagine that she was spoiled. She came demanding that she be recognized as the most important person. That being said, she could be very kind and loving. Her dad was, of course, wrapped tightly around her little finger. When she would sneak into her parents' bed after she had been put in her own bed several times, she always laid next to him, barely hanging onto the edge knowing he wouldn't send her back to her own. She was adventuresome. So much so that after just moving to Alaska, she decided to check out the inspection hole in the floor of a building that was out over the ocean along the main street. She promptly tumbled into the water below, her coat, zipped up, filling with air and acting as a life preserver, kept her safe until her grandfather and uncle could rescue her. Perhaps that would be why she became a strong swimmer, participating in swim team in junior high. She loved pretty things, make up, hair done, and twirly dresses-a precursor to her adult life. Lynsey loved music and was an accomplished pianist. She sang in choirs, played violin and cello in school. Practicing was always a chore until she wanted to be first chair cellist...once accomplished, she went back to her usual schedule of non-practice. She installed that same love of music in her kids. She loved to read.....all night....not school books. There were times when she might be reading more than one book at a time. Movies were another of her favorites...especially Gone with the Wind. As a little girl, she watched it so much, she soon took on the persona of Scarlett O'Hara. The movie quickly was "lost". She and her siblings could quote from such movies as Monty Python and The Holy Grail, Princess Bride, Hocus Pocus, Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars...to name a few. She was quick to smile and had a great laugh. She was competitive when playing games and was always looking for ways to pull a prank. She loved to debate issues of almost any nature with her siblings...debates usually ending in laughs and shouts as to who really won. Decorating for Christmas was special to her. She loved the lights and decorations, new and old. The day after Thanksgiving would be her normal day to start. She loved to bake, and she passed that skill on to Isis. She had tender feelings-especially for her kids...Isis 14 and Sorrin 11. Her kids were her life. She would walk over crushed glass or hot coals for them. She supported them when they wanted to explore different sports or classes such as drama. She wanted them to do their best....to be their best. She taught them it was good to work but she also knew how to play. You would find her on the sidelines cheering them on as they played soccer or participated in swim team. She passed away unexpectedly March 24, 2021 in Lehi, Utah. Preceding her in death are her father, James G Long and older brother, Jeffery G Long. She is survived by her children Isis and Sorrin; and their father Phillip; her mother, Janet Long of Nampa, ID; brothers: Jonathon J Long (Leslie) of Idaho Falls, ID, John K Bartlett (Shelly) of Vail, AZ, Matthew C Bartlett (Gretchen) of Cedar City, UT, Jeremiah J Long (Laura) of Nampa, ID, and a sister, Pyper Lowery (Dan) of Nampa, ID.
