Lara Marie Cawley Ames

Lara Ames, 37, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, granddaughter, and friend passed away June 6, 2014, in Nampa, Idaho, surrounded by family members after a courageous two-year battle with colon cancer. Lara was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, on Feb. 4, 1977, the second child of Michael and Linda Cawley. She was joined by a second brother, Matthew, in 1978. Her older brother is Eric Cawley. She lived in Teton and Rexburg, Idaho, until 1985, when she and her family moved to Boise. She attended Owyhee Elementary, South Junior High, and Borah High School, where she graduated in 1995. She attended Boise State University and graduated in 2001 with a major in history. She is a Past Honored Queen of Bethel 52 Job's Daughters in Boise. Lara met her husband-to-be on her 18th birthday, a day that will always be remembered. She married Austin Ames, son of Marlin and Jill Ames of Arco, Idaho, on June 3, 2000, in Stanley, Idaho. They have two children, Abigail Ames, 9, and Aiden Ames, 7. She worked at the Ada County Courthouse as a court clerk and district court clerk. She loved her job and valued her co-workers. Lara cherished her time with her husband and children traveling to their favorite places, including Indian Beach, Cannon Beach, and Oceanside, Oregon. She also enjoyed visiting Stanley Basin and Idaho City, where she traveled with her husband on their motorcycle. Her hobbies included needle craft, which she taught to her daughter, and reading. She had a special knack of reading the Harry Potter series to her children using all the different voices. Lara was an avid BSU Bronco and NASCAR fan. Her favorite driver was Kyle Busch. She and Austin attended several races, including Las Vegas, where she also brought her children. Lara and Austin's love of music brought them a special bond from the time they met. They especially loved Coldplay and Muse, and attended several concerts in Portland and Seattle. Lara had two special wishes in her final days: to meet her six-month-old nephew, Trevor Cawley, son of her brother, Matthew. She also wanted to take her children and husband to Disneyland in California. Both wishes came true. She was able to hold and feed Trevor, and her family went to Disneyland, thanks to Wish Granters and her Aunt Karen and Uncle Len Atkins. Lara will be truly missed by all who knew her. She had a wonderful smile and eyes that lit up the room when she entered. She was a natural mother and a cherished wife, and she loved all her family. She loved life and was always thinking of others before herself. Lara is survived by her husband and children of Nampa, parents in Boise, brothers, grandmother, Marie Cawley of Idaho Falls, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is also survived by her life-time friend, Jeni Emerizy of Boise, and special aunt and uncle, Karen and Len Atkins of Black Butte Ranch, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother and grandfather, paternal grandfather, and her Uncle Gary Cawley. The family would like to thank MSTI of Boise, including Dr. Dan Zuckerman, Mari Beth Stein, Pat, and all the nurses in chemo, as well as St. Luke's Hospice.
