Kerri Porter (1975-2018) Kerri Porter Cysewski, 42, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018 in Middleton, ID, after bravely battling metastatic gastric cancer for two years. Kerri was surrounded by her children and family, who endlessly took care of her, during the final months of her illness. Kerri was born April 1, 1975 and grew up in Meridian, ID. In high school, she played basketball, volleyball, and modeled for Metcalf Modeling Agency. During her senior year, with the slogan "Kerri is so Very" she became the student body secretary and later graduated from Centennial High in 1993. In July of that same year, she attended Ricks College where she played intermural softball and basketball and worked at the intermural sports office on campus. Kerri was elected and became president for BPA (Business Professionals of America). She later graduated from Ricks College in 1995 with an Associate's degree in Arts & Science and a certificate in office education. Soon after, Kerri was called as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to serve in the Rochester, New York Mission, specifically at the Hill Cummorah Historical Sites in Palmyra, New York. After faithfully completing her mission, she completed a semester at Brigham Young University in Provo, UT. Kerri then decided to spread her wings and became a flight attendant stationed out of Fresno, CA. After a year with Skywest Airlines Kerri moved back to Meridian and became a message therapist. She married Ryan Hales in September 2000, and had four children over the course of their marriage but later divorced. After several years of raising her children on her own, she married Mark Cysewski in October of 2013 and moved to American Falls, ID. After receiving her cancer prognoses and due to her failing health, Kerri decided to move back to Boise over the summer of 2017 where she could receive the continuous care needed for her illness. All that have had the privilege of knowing Kerri will miss her spunky, fun-loving, and adventurous spirit. Kerri was a very devoted mother to her children, an avid bargain shopper, a great missionary with a firm testimony of her savior Jesus Christ, an enthused party planner, and an unconditional friend to all around her. We appreciate everyone who took part in caring for Kerri, especially her sister Shauna, for her selfless sacrifices, and her devoted hospice team Becca Reutzel, RN and Kristen Baisden, CNA. Kerri was born in Boise, ID to Malcolm "Terry" and VerDon DeMille Porter; the fourth of six children. Kerri was preceded in death by her brother Darwin. She is survived by her husband of four years, Mark Cysewski; his daughter Emily; Kerri's four loving children: Porter, Roman, Reagan, and Ryker. She is also survived by her father Malcolm "Terry" (Rhonda Barker Porter), and Mother VerDon (Monte C. Smith); her sister-in-law Susan (Dan Szuch); sister Shauna (Joe Callahan); brother Kade (Kim Porter); sister Ashley (Dewald Jacobs); and sister MeDynn (Matthew Call).
