Charles Allen Maurer "Chuck" 41, of Parma, Idaho passed away October 1, 2014 while working in Colby, Kansas after suffering a heart attack. Chuck was born on December 26, 1972 in El Paso, TX. His life truly started in 1979 when he was adopted by his loving forever family, parents Earl and Candace Maurer and brothers Daniel and Robert. His childhood memories included a special fondness for Sandpoint, Idaho with brothers, cousins and an aunt and uncle that treated him then and now as one of their own. The Maurer's eventually relocated to Lewiston, Idaho where he attended Lewiston High School. He loved his family deeply and spoke of them regularly and while jobs and circumstances took him in different directions he longed to be near them. Chuck's sons Michael and Zac occupied a special spot in his heart, he wished the very best for them, and wanted them to choose paths of goodness and success for their own lives. Usually quiet, once he got to know someone Chuck was quite the tease and always had a witty remark or dumb joke to share. Chuck championed the underdog, he helped others in need, took care of those who were sick or less fortunate, was always willing to offer a hand in service and do whatever needed to be done. He was a hard worker with a good work ethic. He had a lot of experience working in restaurants and resorts and enjoyed his time spent in the kitchen. He also worked as a long haul truck driver and enjoyed God's beautiful creations as he crisscrossed this nation. He was an animal lover. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hiking and finding "special" places. He liked to explore rock formations and gathered a sweet little collection of heart rocks. He also enjoyed playing games, watching movies and football (Dallas Cowboys). He was content to a Friday night of pizza and a movie at home, but was also willing to go dancing. Chuck was never afraid of a challenge. This year he grew a garden, even though it was not a huge success, he enjoyed it and talked about what he learned and what he would do differently next year. He was teachable, learned from his mistakes and was not discouraged when things didn't work out exactly as planned. Chuck believed in second chances and was not quick to judge others. He had great plans and goals for his life, including going back to school to become an X-ray technician and pursing a hobby in photography. Chuck loved his Heavenly Father and had a relationship with his Savior Jesus Christ. He acknowledged the miracles in his life and knew ultimately who was in charge He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and attended the Parma, Idaho Second Ward. Honoring his generous wish, the gift of life was shared with many people in need through organ and tissue donation. And tho he will be missed every day, he is well positioned to watch over those he loves the most and he wouldn't have it any other way. Chuck is survived by his two sons Michael (20) of Clarkston, WA, Zachary (18) of Grangeville, ID; his father, Earl; brothers, Daniel (Amber), and Robert, all of Lewiston, ID; nieces and nephews: Joe, DJ, Devann, Aaliyah and Dayvee and grandmother Auleene Maurer. He was preceded in death by his mother, Candace Marie Willer Maurer and grandparents Fred Maurer, and Robert and Gratia Willer.
