Carrie Payne Tanner, 48, of Kuna, Idaho passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 19, 2020 from a cardiac episode at St. Al's Hospital in Boise, ID. Carrie was born on July 29, 1972 and was adopted by loving and devoted parents, Michael Holmes and Carleen Payne (Tanner), both of Boise, ID. She was later sealed to them in the Idaho Falls Temple. Carrie leaves behind her best friend and son, Trooper Michael Tanner-Moore, 20, of Kuna, ID, her parents, and 8 heartbroken siblings; Tracy Trautman (Carl) of Kuna, ID, Janalee Spring (Christian) of Boise, ID, Nathan (Angela) of Provo, UT, Trevor (Jocelyn) of Baxter, MN, Tyler (Anna Kay) of Blackfoot, ID, Cory (Jennie) of Meridian, ID, Scott (Nicolina) of Highland, UT, and Ashley Justensen (Paul) of Centerville, UT. Carrie is preceded in death by Trooper's father Michael Moore and her sister Jennifer Tanner. Of all those who loved Carrie, perhaps she will be missed the most by her two pretty kitties, Talon and Trixie and her beautiful Buick - Veronica. Carrie was blessed and baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and although she was not active in her later years, she remained beloved by her early church community and enjoyed teaching Sunday school lessons to the small children and volunteered as an advocate for women at the Boise Women's Prison. Carrie embraced her independence at Ricks College, now BYU-Idaho, and made many life-long friends. After she graduated in 1992 with an associate's degree, she went on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse through Boise State University's nursing program and was known as "Tanner" throughout her professional career. While many people are uncomfortable around older seniors, Tanner embraced them with an open heart. Her patience, her smile, her interest in their lives and their stories fueled her professional career and she spent 25 years working for senior care and rehabilitation centers in the Boise valley including: Aspen Rehabilitation Center, Life Care Center of Boise and Cascadia of Boise. Leading the line of 9 Tanner children, Carrie - who was known in the family as "Carrie Blueberry" tolerated the summer backpacking trips, sang like an angel in the Boise High School choir, knew how to work a shovel, and introduced us all to country music. Carrie embraced bling; from her fingernails, to her steering wheel cover, to her jewelry, her sparkle made her the favorite aunt to all of the little nieces. Carrie's greatest joy and most important role was mother to Trooper and her whole world revolved around his happiness. As much as Carrie adored Trooper, he was equally devoted to her; walking gently beside her to help her stay balanced, bringing her a cold Diet Pepsi after a hard day's work and always making sure the kitty litter was emptied. They were very best friends and loved to watch movies, laugh, and go out to eat. They share the same quick sense of humor, taste in food and have the same wide smile. The impetus behind Carrie's occupation, activities, and relationships was her nurturing and loving soul. She could not bear for others to be in pain and worked tirelessly to relieve their suffering. She was truly born to be a nurse. We wish all could be part of her service but as she already has a gigantic family and attendees are limited, please go to ZeyerFuneralChapel.com to find the link to watch us cry and hug as we gather in her memory. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation towards funeral costs to her GOFUNDME account "Funeral Expenses for Carrie" or Venmo Jennie-Tanner-2. Thank you for your help. We will miss her as aunt, daughter, sister, and especially mother. Sleep well sweet Carrie until we meet again.
