Samuel Marshall Lester

SAMUEL MARSHALL LESTER 51 years old, died May 17, 2022, in Boise, Idaho. Born November 19, 1970, in Butte Montana to Charles (Chuck) Francis Lester Sr and Lorraine (Lorri) Dorothy Jackson Lester. Sam grew up in Butte Montana just a few short blocks from the "Big M." One of his favorite memories was of rolling tires down the hill and exploring with his siblings. Lorri and the children moved to the Chewelah, Washington area in the summer of 1980. Sam attended his remaining years of school in Chewelah, and graduated with High Honors from Jenkins Senior High School in 1989. He was active in both athletics and academics throughout his middle school and high school years, lettering in both wrestling and football. He loved the time he spent with his siblings and shared so many heartwarming stories of how they all supported each other. His love for all things computer meant many late nights with his high school friends, spending endless hours programming games and working out solutions. This led to his decision to study Computer Science at Washington State University. While earning his degree, he worked as a Systems Engineer for the Veterinary Medicine Program at the University. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, finishing one credit after being hired by Hewlett Packard. During his time at WSU, Sam met Kori Bodily, who was attending the University of Idaho. They later married in Orofino, Idaho on July 2, 1993. Immediately following the wedding, they moved to Santa Rosa, California where Sam began his lifelong career with Hewlett Packard. In 1996, Sam and Kori were transferred with HP to Boise, Idaho. He worked at HP's Boise site for the rest of his life. HP benefitted greatly from Sam's innovative thinking; he collaborated with his good friend and coworker, to write numerous patents. Sam was also awarded individual patents. Sam traveled to India, China, and Taiwan while working for HP. He enjoyed traveling and seeing different parts of the world. His favorite destination, however, was Chewelah, Washington. Sam loved to bring his own family to share the beautiful scenery, adventures, and to strengthen the bonds between all of the family members. Sam loved to share the accomplishments of his children: Katie, Duncan, Lili, Brodey, and Delaney. He truly loved each of his children; If he was able to speak to them now, he would want them to know they blessed his life and that he respected the choices they made. Sam is survived by his wife Kori and his children Katie, Duncan, Lili, Brodey, and Delaney. His siblings include Theresa (Vahid) Lester, Denise (Brett) Smith, Angela (Larry) Sweat, Charles (Angela) Lester Jr, Elizabeth (Paul) Hubbs, Joseph (Elishia) Lester, and Michelle (Joseph) Erickson. He was preceded in death by his father Charles, mother Lorri, and sisters Katrina and LaVonne. The children of Sam would love to read stories or fun memories that many have had with their dad. They invite you and would greatly appreciate the sharing of your memories by emailing them to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
