Daniel Howard Johnson

Loving husband, father, son, and brother Daniel Howard Johnson, born April 30, 1970, in Pocatello, Idaho, on his Grandma Martha Johnson's birthday, moved on to the next step of his Eternal progression on August 10, 2021, in Meridian, Idaho, of complications from COVID. Dan lived out his life in Idaho: Tyhee, Pocatello, Kimberly, Idaho Falls, Boise, and finally Kuna where he lived for 15 years with his wife Kendra Lynne Brimhall Johnson and their three amazing children: Maximillian (Max), Hyrum, and Tess. He is also survived by his parents, Barry and Laura Johnson of Shelley, Idaho, siblings: Joshua Johnson (& Myken); Idaho Falls, Benjamin Johnson (& Jill), Boise; Kendra Peck (& Layne), Idaho Falls; Aaron Johnson (& Melissa), Boise; Emily Matta (& Patrick), Meridian; Joseph, Boise; Rachel, Alexandria, Virginia; and Michael (& Emily), Boise, as well as dear in-laws: Reed and Brook Brimhall, Meridian; Erika Bates (& Joe), Meridian; Adam Brimhall, Meridian; Devin Brimhall, Meridian; and Becky Brimhall, Meridian; as well as 23 adored nieces and nephews. He won a prestigious Kiwanis award connected to public speaking in sixth grade and loved debating in school (and anywhere) ever since, fiercely holding fast to things he believes. An avid reader, he was always adding well documented knowledge to his arguments and engaging in discussions about religion and politics. He was his children's primary home school instructor and made history and government come alive for them as they acted out scenarios and enjoyed foods and costumes and objects to fit themes. He loved serving as Idaho's Key Club lieutenant governor in Ontario, Canada, and was honored later to serve as an interim Idaho State Senator for Russ Fulcher for a week. A Life Scout and a lifelong scouter, Dan was a great promoter of Kuna Days, and worked with his local scout troop, sponsoring Kuna Days' breakfasts the past few years. He enjoyed many campouts and service projects, many along with his three children and Kendra. He faithfully served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the California Los Angeles Mission (the same mission that his future father-in-law served in), praying he could perhaps finish something for a friend who had to leave his mission there unfinished. One of Dan's favorite callings in the church was teaching Gospel Doctrine which he also brought to life, sharing his unshakeable testimony with many. He worked as manager in several places (including theaters), drove busses and Ubers, and currently has been running a medical courier business out of Meridian. Dan, whose favorite color is plaid, devoted his life to being the best Uncle Danny he could be until he met and married the love of his life, his cariad, on August 26, 2006, at which point he devoted his life to his own family while still being the best Uncle Danny ever. He will always be known as the family tradition guru, and we all hope a few birthday nose butterings, his incomparable seafood chowder, and his nicknames for loved ones will continue on. We will miss Danny's large personality and his heart of gold. We look forward to whatever his surely unique style will be of watching out for us from the other side. Much loved and already missed, Daniel Howard Johnson leaves a legacy behind of great love and faith and loyalty. Danny would want to say thanks for being a part of his life, and "May the force be with you." Services will be held on Wednesday August 18th at 11:00 AM in the Church of Jesus Chris of Latter-day Saints at 224 East Avalon, Kuna, Idaho 83634 under the direction of Zeyer Funeral Chapel of Nampa, Idaho. A link will be provided on the Zeyer website for an opportunity to view the services online. Perry Zeyer is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
