He is also survived by his sister Heather Griggs of Vancouver, WA and sister Holly Marshall (Jim) of Vancouver, WA. He is survived by his two half-brothers, Spencer Koontz and Nick Koontz along with David Spindle. On September 17, 2021, our dear Matthew Wayne Koontz passed away at the young age of 51. Matt was and is so many things to so many people. Matt was a loving husband. Matt was a proud father. Matt was a doting "Dog Dad". Matt was a devoted brother. Matt was an incredible uncle. Matt was a loyal friend. Matt has always been a fighter, so his departure from this earth was shocking and painful for all of us. On September 4, Matt was very sick and was admitted to the hospital. Once there, he was diagnosed with COVID-19. He tried to stay positive and in good spirits. In true Matt fashion, he became friends with many of the nurses and knew them by name. Matt continued his fight, but was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and was put on a ventilator. For a time, things seemed to be improving and we were very hopeful. However, things quickly changed when his heart couldn't take anymore, and on Friday morning Matt was called home to his Heavenly Father. It seems very possible that Matt spent his life loving so hard, his heart was simply too tired to keep going. We hope that we can each continue Matt's legacy of living each day like it's your last, and loving each person like they're your best friend. And of course, GO HAWKS Perry Zeyer is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
