Gilbert H. Hoeg

The world lost the best brother and uncle on April 24, 2023. Gilbert passed away surrounded by family who loved him at the age of 57. Gilbert Hoeg was born in Nampa, Idaho and was adopted by Hans and Iona Hoeg. He attended Nampa High School and graduated in 1985, after which Gilbert joined the Marines and served for 10 Plus years. He then transferred his service to the National Guard Reserve to finish out his Military career. After returning home from active-duty Gilbert started working for Kmart and soon after became a manager of the shoe department for several years. He relocated to California and worked for Kmart for several more years. Gilbert was a very hard worker. After Kmart closed, he started working for Maverick and the Dollar store on 12th Ave. Gilbert was gifted at playing the piano. He worked very hard to learn how to play. Playing the piano was very soothing for him. It provided a feeling of peace and comfort and a lot of joy. Gilbert loved to play any chance he got, no matter where the piano was. He loved playing for others and bringing them joy. Gilbert would do anything for anyone, he would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. He was an avid Pittsburg Steeler and Boise State fan. You would always see him wearing his fan gear. He loved taking his sibling, nieces and nephews to games and spending quality time with them. He loved cook-outs and hanging out with family and he enjoyed a great healthy spirited debate. Overall, Gilbert was a wonderful man taken to soon who will be greatly missed by all who loved and cared for him. Gilbert was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Hans and Inoa Hoeg; biological parents Alicia Gonzales and Zaragosa Gonzales; his sisters: Marcia Hoeg, Dianne Hoeg Richardson, Cindy Gonzales, Rosa Navejar Gonzales; brothers Rubin Gonzales and Paul Gonzales; and nephew Mario Gonzales. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 PM, Friday, May 5, at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd in Nampa. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM, Monday, May 15 at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 Horseshoe Bend Rd in Boise. The Journey of My Life by Rabindranath Tagore It was beautiful as long as it lasted, the journey of my life. I have no regrets whatsoever save the pain I'll leave behind. Those dear hearts who loved and care....and the strings pulling at the heart and soul The strong arms that held me up when my won strength let me down. At every turning of my life, I came across good friends, friends who stood by me. Even when time raced by me. Farewell, Farewell my friend. I smile and bid you goodbye. No, shed no tears for I need them not. All I need is your smile. If you feel sad Do think of me for that's what I'll like. When you live in the hearts of those you love Remember then, you never die.
