David Jay Stephenson

David Jay Stephenson was born in Marseille, France on September 11 of 1964 and passed away in Boise, Idaho on March 30 of 2023 at the age of 58, surrounded by his loving family. He was a cute baby with really long hair, appropriate for the Beatles era but had several developmental issues and spent the first part of his life going to various doctors and hospitals. After his few years in France, the family moved to California where he would receive specialized care. At the age of five, his family moved back to Idaho. He was a talented organ player at an early age and even though he couldn't read music, he would play his own beautiful music for hours on end. The family loved this about him. David always wanted to do what was right. He loved deeply and wanted to make his Heavenly Father and his parents proud of him. He would often ask Lane and Julie if they were proud of him. Of course, the answer was always yes. He attended special education schooling and received his high school diploma, of which he was very proud. David attended several "Centers" where he interacted with other participants in activities and learning programs. Staff members worked with him one-on-one where he was quite a challenge at times. He was also an Elder in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved his calling as Greeter, welcoming everyone to church. It gave him the opportunity to meet people and ask his questions about them. David's mother passed away when he was ten years old, and his father passed away when he was eighteen. He was blessed with his second set of parents, Sandy and Pete, who treated him and his eight brothers, and their families, as their own. David lived with his brother and sister-in-law, Lane and Julie, for the past 22 years. He had all he needed in his bedroom to enjoy the day. He liked working on his computer and watching movies and took breaks to spend time with family and have a good meal. David was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Luella Stephenson; grandparents Guy and Beatrice Stephenson and Wallace and Nathleen Campbell as well as all of his 26 aunts and uncles. He is survived by his second parents, Sandra and Frank "Pete" Miller; eight brothers: Lane (Julie), Matthew (Maureen), Guy (Kathleen), Daniel (Nicole), Jared, Noel, Jason (Marianne), and Nathan as well as 26 nieces and nephews and their children. He was a true example of living a Christ-like life, loving and caring about those around him. He will be missed but we are grateful he was able to shed his troubled body and is reunited with loved ones and can only imagine how happy he is with them.
