Colin Cummings Swainston, 54, passed away suddenly Friday, December 22, 2017, from a heart attack. He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Colin was born on September 12, 1963 in Hollywood, California to Howard DeWitt Swainston and Joyce Elaine Cummings. Colin developed a deep love for basketball in his youth. He played for Glendale High School and into his freshman year at Brigham Young University. He particularly loved the Boston Celtics, a passion he shared with his family. Colin expressed his enduring faith in God, serving a mission in Quito, Ecuador and fulfilling many leadership and teaching positions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He exemplified his faith through his ongoing love and generosity towards his family, neighbors, coworkers, and even strangers. He was a friend to the friendless. Colin married the love of his life, Pamela Jean Matthews, on May 30, 1987 in Los Angeles, California. They commenced their life together in Provo, Utah while they finished up their education. Upon Colin graduating from J. Reuben Clark Law School they moved to Huntington Beach, California, where Colin practiced as an attorney for 25 years. They raised their children in Huntington Beach until relocating to Eagle, Idaho in recent years to be closer to family. Colin enjoyed studying the Gospel of Jesus Christ, spending time at the Emmett Gun Range, and particularly spending time with his family and beloved grandsons. Colin was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife, Pamela, his children Lauren Swainston Pinegar (Colin), Michael (Gwenna), Gregory (Lauren Jane), and Trevor, his grandsons Rex and Abraham Pinegar, and his siblings, Kurt (Sydney), Paul (Becky), Erika Soelberg (Kent), and many nieces and nephews.A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 28th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday, December 29th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Linder Stake Center, next to the Meridian LDS Temple, 7135 North Linder Road, Meridian, ID 83646.
